Chandigarh : In an unprecedented move, the Congress government on Monday appointed six Congress MLAs as political advisers to chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The MLAs who have been elevated as political secretaries are Kuljeet Nagra (Fatehgarh Sahib) , Kushaldeep Singh Kikki Dhillon (Faridkot) , Amrinder Singh Raja Warring (Gidderbaha), Inderbir Singh Bolaria (Amritsar South), Tarsem Singh DC (Attari) and Sangat Singh Gilzian (Urmur Tanda).

The move to appoint MLAs as advisers is being seen as an attempt of the chief minister to quell “dissent” his government is facing on a range of issues.

Nagra and Tarsem will look after planning and some other departments. Warring and Dhillon will look after Malwa zone, Gilzian (Doaba) and Boalria (Majha). Tarsem has been given the status of a state minister, while others will enjoy the perks and facilities of a cabinet minister. Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh refused to accept the offer, it is learnt
