Improve pay and perks or will go on strike: Govt docs
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Karnal:

The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) on Sunday said it would strike work if its demands for improving the salary and perks of state government doctors, were not met in 15 days .

The decision came in a meeting of HCMSA in Karnal, following which it also sent a memorandum to Haryana health minister Anil Vij and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

HCMSA president Dr Jasbir Singh Panwar said they demanded parity in pay and perks of doctors across the country. He said demands like special package for specialists and dynamic ACP should be brought on a par with other states. He claimed that Vij had accepted these demands in a meeting earlier. “These issues have been pending at the CM’s level for six months and no action has been taken,” he said.

He added there was an “acute shortage” of government doctors in Haryana. “Around 2,000 doctors are working in government hospitals of the state. New doctors are not joining the state health department as the government is hiring on contract. This policy will lead to corruption in the field,” Dr Panwar alleged.

HCMSA general secretary Dr Rajesh Sheokand said it seemed the government was not willing to look into their grievances. “Therefore, it has been decided that 15 days will be given to fulfil our pending demands, else doctors will be forced to go on strike,” he said
